If you’ve ever admired flawless, clear skin on other people, but felt it could never be you because of your acne struggles and all that hyperpigmentation(i get it girl… that used to be me too), then you’re in for a pleasant surprise!

Before I spill these skincare gems, let me first say this, as it’s always a controversial topic whenever it comes up… PRETTY PRIVILEGE is a real thing & nothing to be ashamed of. You can’t exactly throw off your face or stop improving your lifestyle, because of someone’s insecurities(of course you should apply empathy in your interactions with others).

“So it’s very normal to want better skin for this reason too”

We humans are vain creatures, some more vain than others, but still vain. That’s why we treat ourselves to new outfits, spa treatments, nice hair, latest gadgets, big cars, fancy outings, flawless makeup, etc., looking well groomed, with the goal to improve our likeability and desirability amongst ourselves, and (in)directly, benefit from pretty privilege.

I’ve personally experienced acne and if there’s one major damage it does, it’s to leave you feeling less confident about yourself in many ways, which affects the quality of choices you make and the opportunities available to you(speaking from experience here).

“Skincare is pretty simple, once you understand the basics”

With the overload of information on the internet, it can be quite confusing to know the best products for you, and for this I’ll recommend you find a trusted skincare consultant or dermatologist, because their expertise will help you save on time & money.

The basic steps of every skincare routine includes cleanse, tone, hydrate and moisturise, although different skin types will require different products. A skin type can either be normal, dry, oily or sensitive, and in some cases both, that is, dry & sensitive or oily & sensitive. Once you know your skin type, you’re half way to getting your clear skin. Hurrayyyy!

Let me also say, consistency & lots of patience, is important on this journey, because you literally can’t rush your skin, but the end result is always worth it. Do I need to tell you how lit your selfie game is about to get sis? Lol!

“It’s just as important to love yourself through the process”

Having experienced both extremes of damaged skin & healthy skin, I can confidently tell you that clear skin is an experience I want my acne-skin girlies, to have too.
